While all of Arran’s rivers can hold sea trout and salmon, they are ‘spate’ rivers requiring rainfall to raise water levels and encourage fish upstream from the sea.
Arran Angling Association rents 9 island rivers for the use of both residents and visitors.
These are:
The Chalmadale in Lochranza, Sannox and North Sannox
The Cloy in Brodick
The Benlister and Monamore burns in Lamlash
The Ashdale in Whiting Bay
The Kilmory
The Sliddery
Loch Garbad in the south end (parking available at the Eas Mor car park) is also available and is stocked with rainbow trout to supplement the indigenous brown trout. (Strictly fly fishing only).
