Located just within the boundary of Haverhill, Suffolk . We have our Floodpark (rez) which is leased off the Environment agency and is formally known as Meldham flood storage reservoir.

THE Membership RUNS 16th June - 15th June and the REZ has no closed season.

HAC  also owns a stretch of the River Stour at Lower Stoke Road, Stoke - By - Clare, Sudbury Suffolk, CO10 8JD.

HAC also has a stretch of River Stour at Wixoe this is run by Sudbury and Long Melford Angling Association.

THE River has a nationally enforced closed season March 14th to June 16th.

No River fishing from midnight on 14th March to midnight on 15th June.

HAC is a not for profit organization and is available to everyone for the price of a yearly membership.

Adult Member £ 40.00 16yr to 65yr (60yr ladies)

Concession member 65+yr for gents 60+yr for  ladies and disabled £ 20.00

Junior Member 12y - 16yr accompanied by 16+yr £ 20.00

Under 12yr are free to fish but have to be accompanied by a HAC 16+yr Member.

This picturesque lake holds a good number of fish for the match anglers amongst us
Rudd, Roach, Perch, Bronze Bream, Gudgeon, Crucians, Tench and Carp.

The lake also holds a healthy head of carp to 30+lb although these are a hard target and the lake is not considered as a runs water by any means.

On calm summers days these can be seen cruising around the island and on frequent occasions in the margins in water barely deep enough to cover them.

Although the membership is valid for everyday of the year 16th June to 15th June the lake can be closed at short notice for a variety of reasons;

There is no forced spawning closed season  (March 14th to June 16th) but we do close the lake when the fish are actively spawning this gives fish the best chance of successful spawning and a resting period. The lake could be closed multiple times but usually for only afew days. Thankyou for understanding.

HAC do hold fishing matches at the rez usually during the autumn to spring months, one Sunday a month, the lake will be closed during the match although the stock pond is still open and maybe a unused peg or two in the rez.

The environmental agony can also close the lake for maintenance or for other reasons;

Outbreaks of bluegreen algae, usually one outbreak in early summer lasting a couple of weeks the aerators that have been installed are to help prevent outbreaks.

Although not a forced closure the algae is harmful/fatal if ingested by humans or animals.

Other rare fish kills caused by crashes in oxygen after storms/pollution will also close the lake temporally whilst the problem is investigated.

HAC owns a stretch of the River Stour at Lower Stoke Road, Stoke - By - Clare, Sudbury Suffolk, CO10 8JD.

The stretch runs from Stoke bridge to the car park. On the right hand-side as you face downstream.

There is a stock of Roach, Rudd, Perch, Gudgeon, Dace, Chublets, Bream, Hybrids, Minows, Bleak and Jack Pike.  Mainly the fish are small ie 4oz with the odd 1lb fish jack pike are common up to 4lb.

HAC has a car park it is at the crossroad of Lower Stoke Road and Doctor's Lane, please park sensibly as the Environmental Agony and local farmers have access too.

HAC also has a stretch of River Stour at Wixoe this is run by Sudbury and Long Melford Angling Association  you can fish from the Ford to the little weir.

You can fish from the footbridge on the left hand-side as you face downstream to the little weir.

Please be aware that both these stretches of river are relatively narrow and shallow, during the summer months the bank-side vegetation can be very overgrown and the water is generally very weedy and almost unfishable.

Although a pain for fishing the habitats are very good for nature providing spawning grounds and cover from predators mainly otters and cormorants, the surrounding nature and views are worth seeing even if you do blank.
