Holymoorside Angling Club

Holymoorside Angling Club was formed in 1968 by a group of enthusiastic anglers who were already fishing Holymoorside Dam.  Holymoorside Dam was constructed in the late 18th century to provide water for a cotton mill situated to the North East of the dam.     The mill, operated by the Manlove family, employed 200 people at it's peak, but closed in 1902 and was demolished soon afterwards. The mill pond however remained and now  provides a picturesque and relaxing  fishing venue.

After formation of the Club, fishing was available to members on Holymoorside Dam, with a rent being paid to the owners Robinsons and Son's of Chesterfield.

In the late 1980's, the Club was approached by Robinsons and Son's, with a view to the Club purchasing Holymoorside Dam and most of the surrounding land, from them.  The purchase was carried out.

In Addition to "The Dam", as it is affectionately known, the Club also has fishing rights on two small ponds at Stondedge, Chesterfield, through a rental agreement with their owner. Please note that access to Stonedge ponds is via a padlocked gate, keys for which are available to purchase at a cost of £10 and are non-refundable.

Holymoorside Angling Club has a membership of around two hundred members with some being from the village but many travelling from all over Chesterfield and surrounding area to fish our venues and to take part in the Monday evening  matches hosted by the club on the Dam from May to August.  Dates and details for these matches can be found on our website and Facebook page.
